*Having problems adding pics i'll have to add them later sorry*
So the "friend" i'm on vacation with is my boyfriend. Robert Shipley the third. We've been dating for 2 weeks on sunday and have been friends through Baked! since i started working there. He is my boss, so i'm hoping for a promotion any day now;) He's sweet, he's funny, and we get along really well. before the dating commenced we considered each other best friends (if not then nearly so). so anyway here's some pictures.
Right now we're in South Carolina visiting his aunt, meeting up with daniel (rob's brother) and getting some of his mothers things. Before this we were staying at Eddy's in North Carolina close to ashville. Eddy's is a friend through the ministry Rob's a part of. he has a wonderful home and it was great staying with him, i wish i would have gotten some pictures of him and his family. Ashville is a lot like bloomington except larger and no college. The first night we were hanging out in it we didn't meet any locals and we only met 3 locals the whole time. we were asked directions often because no one knew the town. The locals we did meet though were awesome adn said the town had gone down hill with the tourism, the community side of things was disintegrating, something i hope won't happen wiht bloomington.
Before Ashville and civilization we had quite the adventure. First the trip was sort of spontaneous. Rob needed a vacation adn he had only a few weeks to get down here to get his mom's stuff with his brother so we barely planned anything (which i fine with me i was glad to go on an impromptu road trip:). The day before we left if i wasn't working he was and if he wasn't working he was packing the car and same with me. He wanted to leave after work at 2am! we decided to sleep a little before, so we slept on the couches at baked! so we took off early in the morning and drove for 13 hours, having to turn around 3 times. by the times we got to the national forest we discovered we had to hike 3 miles to get to the free camp sights... rob was determined and well i love adventures so on almost no sleep and with no equipment we attempted to carry our food, tent, and bare essentials (about 75 lbs) 3 miles up. It was hilarious and exhausting at one point rob took almost all the stuff (i don't know why) and was trying to carry it up all by himself. it almost killed him:) the picture of him with a stick on his shoulder is him doing this. Anyway it's maybe a half hour before sunset and we have to be pretty much there and we hear a shuffle ahead. We look up and over and what do we see? two little black bears growling in a tree. sigh. we didn't even speak we just looked at each other and turned around and went back down the hill for a ways. hehe. we didn't know where the mother was AND we didn't know about the pully system for food at the camp sites so there was no question we weren't going to camp at that sight. Going down the hill we had pretty much no light we're beyond exhaustion and we just want to sleep, i'm thinking surely someone in town will have pitty on us and give us a nice discount on a room i mean it's really late and we were threatened by black bears (so they were young and in a tree, we're essentially from the city have some pitty)... none what so ever the first place we went the front desk lady was like "awe did some black bears chase you donw the mountain?" like they were kittins! they growled at us!... whatever she directed us to the cheapest hotel in the area and we got it, don't know how we'll pay for it but that night we slept on a bed, and that was all that mattered. the next night, rob still being determined to camp in the mountains away from people and for free (well the campsite at least), we rented some camping gear (prober backpack, water filter and some sleeping mats). The next trip up was much easier and more enjoyable and the next few days were easy in comparison
Yes yes we should have been more prepared but come on we've learned so much and have a lot of great stories, i say it's worth it.
Anyway i'm being rude right now and just using the computer while our hostess is cleaning so i aught to get helpin.
love ya all adn hope you enjoy the pics!
oh soo much is happening right now, all very good. Next week i'm going with a friend to Nroth Carolina to the smoky mountains, there will be camping and visiting cute little towns. I look forward to it... rightnow though i much go. pictures and updates to follow soon.
I was strolling through my neighborhood (on vox) and i realized i don't really update people about what's going on with me, so i'll grace you;)
Right now i'm working at baked! (currently like this very moment as i type this). Our summer hours were reduced so i got a second job at target in the little food court (starbucks and pizza express). It's ok, there's always a lot to do but really i'm enjoying my new co-workers the most. The unfortunate thing is i'll be working shifts alone so i don't look forward to post training. The really unfortunate thing is the hours. I have a few shifts at 7am... 7AM! so pretty much this last week what's happened is i've gotten used to getting a few hours of sleep before work and a few after.... This has resulted in me not having a clue what day or time it is ever and often forgetting what i'm about to say... i know i know, i'm working on some symbolince of regularity.
I got my hair cut, still love it. Zelda is adverturing outside more and more but she comes when i call her.... Mostly i'm just working, hanging out, having a lot of fun with my sewing machine lately, mostly old t-shirts getting a make over, and getting to know my bike better, riding around and trying to take it apart a little at a time. Also I've been intending to carry my camera more places and take more pics to share (they're always my favorite on vox). Anyway Love you all and hopefully i'll beable to see some of you soon!
I got my hair cut! yay! it's been so long since i've had it this short and i love it. sometimes i wake up and it's all spikey every which way and it's perfect. The only thing i don't like about it is i have to have someone else cut it:( but i'll worry about that later. right now to the gell and hairdryer to create my next materpeice!
Have you ever done anything out of pure spite? What did you do?

In sixth grade i actively sought out bullies and let them cheat off of me. My reasoning was that if they cheated and never learned the stuff we were learning they would have an awful time in the grades that followed and, hopefully (as the plan went), they would fail school altogether... i failed to take into account that computers with spell check and calculators would become standard in the grades that followed. The joke was on me.
This is a video of Gogol Bordello. I absolutely looove his music and band, and accent, and outfits, and i could go on. he is amazing so i want everyone to know and this is a great first video.
Now this second video, is the funniest documentery i've ever seen. This is only the first part but i recomend looking up the other 3 parts, it's only about a half hour total. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did (if nothing else tune for the conversation during the end credits, it's ... just listen:)
